Sandra Pond

Art Teacher

I studied at the Norwich School of Art and Design and was presented with the annual award for outstanding achievement on graduating.

I am widely known for my finely detailed and accurate botanical and wildlife illustrations. This fascination in flora and fauna comes from an early age, sitting in the garden surrounded by Frogs, Spiders, Ants, Bees, Flowers etc. My work has also included cookery, gardening, biology and architecture. I also create and exhibit my own paintings in local galleries.

My work has appeared in publications both nationally and internationally. These include:

  • Whales Dolphins and Porpoises: A Natural History and Species Guide
  • How to Make Coffee: The Science Behind the Bean
  • The Book of Beetles: A Life- Size Guide to Six Hundred of Natures Gems
  • The Book of Frogs: A Life-Size Guide to 600 Species from Around the World

My clients have included: The Royal Horticultural Society; BBC Books; Dorling Kindersley; Quarto (formerly Ivy Press); Readers Digest; Gardens Illustrated; Ideal Home Magazine; The Guardian and other newspapers.

In addition to my commissioned work, I also undertake private tuition, run regular watercolour art classes in Suffolk and teach watercolour techniques for Turkish Painting Holidays.
